North-West Italy brings together the Alpine valleys and plains of Piedmont and Aosta Valley, Liguria’s coastal hinterland, and lake-and-hill landscapes around Lombardy. Golf travel can combine inland courses with city stays, vineyard areas, lakeside bases or the Riviera, although driving times vary sharply between mountains, coast and major urban areas. This variety makes route planning important: bases close on a map may be separated by passes, busy motorways or seasonal traffic. Accommodation patterns range from city hotels to small resort towns, so booking a base near the intended playing area can reduce daily transfers. The playing season is longest near the Ligurian coast and on lower ground, while higher-altitude areas are more dependent on snow and spring conditions. Spring and autumn generally offer comfortable conditions for walking; summer can be hot on the plains, while mountain venues may feel cooler. Milan, Turin and Genoa provide main international arrival points, with rail and road links useful for multi-stop itineraries.
