Achill Island Golf Club is a 9-hole links course on Achill Island, located at Sandybanks in Keel, right next to the beach. During the round, you overlook the rugged Atlantic Ocean and the hills of Achill, while the course runs along a river and often creates real strategic moments when a tee shot goes wrong. Out-of-bounds comes into play on holes 4 and 5, increasing the challenge. The signature hole is hole 6, a par 3 of 61 yards known as the toughest of the round. The club also has a strong competitive culture, with a recent historic back-to-back win in the 9-Hole Interclub title. In August, the annual Festival of Golf is also on the calendar, a fixed event for the local golf community.
